the method, in full

the score

an editorial rating of nairobi's events and venues, in the tradition of the michelin star. one to five roses, judged against a rubric that is public and the same for everyone.

the tiers

one to five roses

one rose

worth knowing about. gets the basics right.

two roses

a good one. worth going out of your way for, day or night.

three roses

excellent. plan your week around it.

four roses

exceptional. among the best the city offers.

five roses

everyone who's into it should have been there. one they'll be talking about.

the rubric

18 categories, four families

every event is measured against the same published rubric. categories that do not apply to an event are set aside, never counted against it.

experience & vibe

  • vibe & energy — does the room feel alive and right for the night?
  • safety & security — do you feel looked after, entrance to exit?
  • timeliness — did it start, run and end close to what was promised?

entertainment

  • acts & speakers — were the headline draws worth showing up for?
  • mc & hosts — did the hosting hold the room together?
  • production quality — sound, light and staging done properly?

amenities

  • food quality — was what you ate any good?
  • drinks & pricing — a fair pour at a fair price?
  • bathrooms — clean, stocked and enough of them?
  • cleanliness — was the venue kept in good order through the night?

flow & logistics

  • admission flow — how smooth was getting in?
  • congestion — could you move without a crush?
  • layout — did the space make sense once you were inside?
  • finding help — was someone there when you needed them?
  • event exit — how easy was getting out at the end?

how it grows

two phases

phase one

authority first

only watu wako rates. we establish the standard, the rubric and the voice before anyone else weighs in.

phase two

the city joins in

verified members who actually attended rate alongside the editorial score. their voice sits beside ours, and never replaces it.

the promise

the integrity rules

this is how the score stays worth trusting

  • the score is never for sale
  • paid placement is always labelled
  • the rubric is public
  • we rate the experience, never the people
  • corrections are published

the first scores drop on whatsapp first.
